In a wide sweeping demonstration of solidarity, 16  national and international conservation NGOs published a full page advertisement in Costa Rica’s most circulated newspaper – La Nación. The paid ad called for the public’s support in opposition of a bill that proposes to downgrade Leatherback National Park to a wildlife refuge. The advertisement includes a letter that can be cut out and sent to the Legislative Assembly’s Environmental Commission, asking the commission head to table the bill and protect the leatherbacks.

Costa rica’s Citizen’s Defense Ministry has also weighed in with its support for the park.  Please click here to read the Ministry’s press release (only available in Spanish).
