It is a blessing that enough people managed to come together and put up a united front against this potentially terrible mismanagement of natural resources.I see that the hardest part of putting up a resistance to ill-though development and policy in general is organizing like minded people and organizations to work together for common goals. I see that as a statistic American families are approximately 48% disfunctional just from divorce records, but this statistic transcends the individuals into our dis-functional society. Sure we are functional about 50% of the time the way it sits — but that other 50% goes beyond our borders in America and can be seen as a global occurance of dis-functinal relationships. We have the potential to join forces globally which is the only way we will keep ahead of the game, and I see that happening with organizations like Pretoma, due to the forsight and wisdom at the organization. Industry and business are global now, the conservation community would benefit greatly by operating like-wise and pulling together for the synergy that will be necessary to influence positive policy changes that could get us to sustainable consumption and development of resources before our ecology is lost forever.
We have to learn to work together and build momentum if we are going to have wildife around for future generations. This was just a warm-up exercise for the many issues that are sure to come and we are truely lucky that the efforts put forth by Pretoma and associates staved off our worst possible loss — the development of Las Baulas National Park by real estate investors. Never give up!MUCHO SALUDOS!
